Bring Kelly to Your School

Presentation Information:

I am happy to give up to five presentations in a full day. Up to two presentations in a half day.

The number of students per presentation depends on the facility and the facilities. I’m happy to speak to as many students as you can fit into the space. Often I do presentations in the library or in the cafetorium, with students seated on the floor. In these situations, it is best to present to one grade level at time. At larger schools, the grade levels might have to be divided into smaller groups.  (Grouping the younger grades together is fine, since they are smaller.)

Because N0T NORMAN, A Goldfish Story has received several awards and is on state reading lists, most schools ask me to give NOT NORMAN presentations. I have created programs featuring NOT NORMAN for Pre-K through Grade 5 students.

Many schools select the Native American Presentations to compliment school curriculums’ focus on Native American history and cultural studies.

Others chose to focus on writing for 4th or 5th grade students. If you decide to choose a writing program, such as my "Create a Mystery" program, please divide students into no more than 2 classrooms at a time—60 students or less.

With more than 20 years of experience in childrens’ literature and publishing, Kelly is qualified to speak on a variety of topics pertaining to children’s writing.

She has been a featured speaker at SCBWI, OWFI Conferences and Workshops, a contest judge, panelist, and critic. She has facilitated children’s writing retreats, full- and half-day workshops, and library seminars for a variety of organizations.

Fees for writing/writer events varies. Kelly is delighted to work with you to design a program specifically for your group.
